LaKeisha Wolf and Frankie Harris, both mothers, work as members of the Ujamaa Collective, a non-profit founded with a social mission to create spaces, opportunities, networks, education and support for Africana women to grow as entrepreneurs, artisans, and servant-leaders within the Hill District. Ujamaa offers an artisan boutique, open-air marketplace events, an agricultural incubator, and cooperative business support for entrepreneurs in The Hill. Through placemaking, cooperative strategies, community and economic development, Ujamaa's vision is to create sustainable neighborhoods and communities that are healthy and economically vibrant for people of African descent.
